Linkit lets you share interesting links. It is part of the Thousand Robots network. Please sign up, post some links, and become a part of our community! (Before sharing links, please read our policy on commercial links.)
All links from the old site have been migrated here. Before it was hosted on Ning, Linkit lived elsewhere, where it accumulated nearly 7,000 links between July 2003 and March 2006. When Linkit moved to Ning, those links were left behind. Until now. The links from the old site are now incorporated into Linkit. This infusion has tripled the number of links currently stored in Linkit. You can browse and search through them just as you would any other links. (July 21, 2007)
Easier RSS Feeds. In every page header, there is now a link to an RSS feed for whatever set of links you happen to be viewing. In an unfiltered page, the RSS link will point to a feed that contains all Linkit items. When you are viewing the links for a specific user, the linked RSS feed will contain only items for that user. And when you are looking at a set of links filtered by a given tag, the RSS feed will contain links just for that tag. In each case, the RSS feed is indicated by the standard RSS icon (
). You can use the RSS feed to make your Linkit links show up on your own blog or other website. If you are not sure what RSS is or how you can use it, you can learn more about RSS before trying it out. (July 12, 2007)
"Via" information added automatically. Appropriate values for the "Via" fields are now updated automatically when using the "Add to my links" feature. In other words, if you click "Add to my links" below any item, the name and URL of the user you got the link from will automatically appear in the "Via" and "Via URL" fields when you add the item. Relatedly, the "description" field is no longer automatically carried over from the original link. You can enter your own description instead. (July 12, 2007)
Introducing the Linkit Map. Linkit now features the Linkit Map, which shows links on a Google Map. For instance, links that are about New York will show up in New York on the map. To add your own links to the map, just be sure to fill out the "location" field when adding a link. When using addresses in the USA, be as specific as possible (e.g., "1000 Broadway, New York, NY"). When using addresses from other countries, being vague is better (e.g., "Beijing, China" or "China"). For some reason, this seems to result in more reliable results from Google. Note that this map feature is new, and is still undergoing testing and development. (July 9, 2007)
